League News & Notes:

June 9th, 2008

With the forecast we are looking at, this will be a
game time decision. Please make sure you child
is at the field ready to play at Managers requested
time of arrival..

With that said, please be sure that your child has a plan
in case of bad weather. Cell phone #'s to call, ride home..

Please make sure your child has sunscreen on & enough
water to last the entire game...

May 31st, 2008

It looks likely we will miss the worst weather so, we are going
for it this morning. if you are dropping off, please make sure
that you child has a plan in case of a mid game cancellation.
Who to call, who to go home with etc..

May 30th, 2008

We still have a few Fisher Cat tickets available for Sunday's game

against the 'Future Red Sox' Portland Sea Dogs..Please let me know

tomorrow if you see me at the park.

May 27th, 2008

Most likely games will be started as normal, but it will be crucial for you to have a

plan made with your child about what to do in case of a mid-game thunderstorm.

Who are they riding with, who to call etc..

May 26th, 2008

Games are moving along as scheduled. We may have one make up game

here and there, but it is not bad considering the snow we had in early April.

We are looking forward to the Fisher Cat game Vs. the Portland Sea Dogs

on Sunday..if you still need a ticket, please let us know ASAP..

May 17th, 2008

Morning! All looks a little damp, but the fields are in good shape,

so make sure your child has a extra layer on under their shirt

for the morning chill! See you at the ball park!

May 12th, 2008

Fields look fantastic this morning. We are concerned with the band of

rain moving around the NYC area and what that may bring..the forecasters

are predicting a few showers, but they got it wrong this weekend..do check

back after 3pm and we will have an update then. A very successful weekend tagging.

A big thank you to all the kids and their parents for their time. Remember that

we have discount tickets available for the Fisher Cats for the June 1st game.

May 6th, 2008

Everything looks good this morning, and we have two

make up games tonight. One is IOOF Vs Reds and the second

is the Police Vs. Fire teams.

May 5th, 2008

Morning all, the fields look like swimming pools in more than a

few spots on the outfield, so we will give it a day to drain and we

should be good to go tomorrow night if necessary. Your team Manager

will update you ASAP.

May 1st, 2008

Fields still look a little damp, but hopefully will dry enough in the course of

the day to allows us to get going tonight. I realize that it is hard at this point

after all the practices, but if there is an inch of water on the fields, it just

does not make sense to endanger your child in that way.

April 29th, 2008

Sorry folks, I fell into the vacation crater and am now trying to climb out

the other side. A lot of action behind the scenes the last few weeks with

Field Clean Up day, first Regular season games (hopefully tomorrow) and

Opening Day preparations for this coming Saturday. We had discussion on

forming an additional team to split the playing time a little better, but we

did not seem to have the traction necessary to make it happen. I will

send out an e-mail to you to explain the pro's & cons. We look forward to

better weather and a great Opening Day. Keep an eye out for Spike the Dog

on Saturday! A note on game condition colors..Green is GO, Orange is PROBALE

and Red is CANCELLED.

April 12th, 2008

We hope everyone had a great time last night. A little less formal than a

team practice and we figured it would be good for the kids to stay with

their own ages for a night like that. At least the kids seemed to be having

good time! Lots of laughing, which was a good sign. Our fields remain

pretty wet, so we will stick to the alternate plans for now..

 April 9th, 2008

First practices should all be under everyone's belt at this stage & thankfully

the weather has been dry. A quick reminder to all parents that kids should

have a good warm sweatshirt & baseball hat for these colder practices.

There is NO PARKING on the right hand side of the street as you approach

the ball fields. This is a Fire Lane, so please keep to the left.

Friday night is indoor night! Time is 7-9pm See you then..

April 1st, 2008

with its Sponsor of the Year award in conjunction with the Dover Rec. Department.

More snow ..Argh! Just when it looked like it was melting nicely we are

back a week or two. Managers will try to make alternate arrangements for

initial practices. We do still have an opening for someone to look after the

Opening Day. If you have the time, please contact us for more details.

March 26th, 2008

We had to reschedule our Board meeting and had that last night. Our

next scheduled meeting will be Sunday April 27th at 7pm in the IOOF hall.

All first Team meetings or informal practices should be taking place in the next

week or two. Your Team Managers will contact you in regards to those.

cooperates!

March 19th, 2008

From all accounts, everything went well on draft night with all the new players.

All Managers will be contacting their new players from tonight through Friday night.

The first scheduled practice will be April 7th, but as you can imagine, is very much

weather dependant. The next indoor session at USA Training center on April 11th from

7 -9pm, may indeed be the first chance for you to meet your new teammates.  We hope

that the weather starts to improve dramatically in the next few weeks, and we are

looking forward to the start of the season.

March 11th, 2008

For new players coming to evaluations, here is what you can expect: Come a little

after 6:15pm to check-in. Upon arrival you will be given a colored bib with a number.

Coach Carver (Dover High Baseball coach) will conduct a series of fielding drills assisted

by two of his varsity players. There is also a batting cage set up for you to take some

batting practice. Managers will observe all of the above. Once you have completed your

tasks, you can go. The player draft will take place, and you will be notified by Wednesday

the 19th March of your new team. Please let me know if you have any questions,

or comments on the format: president@doverll.org

March 9th, 2008

We are looking forward to meeting all our new players at Evaluations next Sunday evening.

They start at 6:30, right after Coach Carver's Green Wave Baseball camp, so feel free to show up

a little early and get ready. As probably mentioned to you, this evaluation assist the Team

Managers assess the players, aiding them fill particular spots on the team where they feel they need

help. This is not to be considered a tryout. We do not have try outs. All of our players play and

are developed together. Please mark April 11th for a night of indoor baseball fun at the USA Training

center in Newington. Our times are from 7pm to 9pm and we have both the batting cages and field

for  the full two hours. See you then!

February 21st, 2008

All the kids seemed to have a good time in Newington! It is a fantastic facility and hats off

the staff down there. I would recommend it to any organization looking for a chance to get

in some constructive practice, without having to worry about the weather.

Please see: http://www.usatrainingcenters.com/ for more..

Registrations are brisk to say the least. Most teams have nearly all their returning players at

the time of writing. An extra team is in the works, so no need to worry about not having a spot.

Please see the Home page for registration options.. If anyone has any questions about the League,

or on registrations, please let us know. Our next scheduled Board meeting is March 2nd at 7pm

in the Odd Fellows Hall on Rutland St.
